Some of our site is under construction. Thank you for your patience.

Welcome to UMHE @ The Monroe. UMHE is eager and ready to be your advocate and to faithfully assist you in your pursuit of "higher" education at Missouri State University. Throughout our history we have been a voice for tolerance and understanding; indeed these values rest at the heart of our Christian faith. We believe that the world needs your abilities, curiosity and intellectual capacity. Further, as progressive Christians, our faith experience leads us to believe that diversity of opinion, spirituality and lifestyle are valuable meeting points.

The Monroe seeks to be a unique living-learning community (LLC) within the MSU community. By its very nature a LLC is interested in ideas and questions. Likewise, your goals compel you to be open to experiences that grow your capacity to creatively engage other people and the world. The Monroe, as a LLC, promotes five values that (after consulting many students like you) we believe will enhance your time at MSU and help you prepare for your future.

Your participation is completely voluntary. We encourage you to pick and choose (or not) from the many opportunities offered by UMHE @ The Monroe. Give us feedback, become a part of The Monroe’s Community Committee that gives shape to "The Monroe" experience and live the off-campus experience only 200 steps from the Campus Union!

Best wishes,
Howard Cavner
